Hi Linda,

Thanks for visiting my blog and for the helpful advise. I'll see how I go. I really like your list. So many wonderful things for us to learn from these lovely blogs and so encouraging that people are bringing their Christianity into this area of daily life.

Blessings Gail

Hi Linda

I'm going to try the 5 Spice Meatballs for dinner tonight.

B15 has netball training at 5pm (15kms out of town) so I hope to have them made up ready to fry off later when we get home.

I had a look at that blog - 'In other words - Enjoy life, stay home.

We set the table every night and have dinner as a family. Sometimes the kids groan bit I like to catch up with them about daily life before they hit the TV or computer/homework. Friday nights we usually have 'bowl food in our laps' then we eat dinner watching TV. We don't eat out much - there are only pubs to go to in our town and its either schnitzel and chips or steak. Hubby can cook better steak on the barby so he does that. Eating out for 4 would cost us over $80!

I love the Grace that that family says -

Thank you for the food before us
The friends beside us
And the love between us.

It says it all.

Have a nice day

Cheers - Joolz

I liked that Grace too.

We enjoyed the meatballs. I meant to write something about them while it was fresh in my mind, but I didn't get a chance. I know we were pleased with the recipes we tried this week.

I think the meatballs reminded me of a favourite that has been removed from the ABC site. I like the meatballs better.

"Indonesian Style Pork Spare Ribs
Chef: Kim Mullins

This is a fragrant, soupy stew that should be served with rice and your favourite greens. For a heartier meal, add dried beancurd and whole baby mushrooms to the dish.

The perfect accompaniment to this dish is Chinese Green Tea.

Serves 4

Degree of difficulty: Low

You need:

2 tbs vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp five spice powder
4 star anise
6 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
450g pork ribs
1 tbs dark Soya sauce
5 cups water

Method:

Heat oil and fry garlic for a minute. Add the spices and meat and fry for another 3-4 minutes. Add the soy sauce and water, bring to the boil, then gently simmer for 1 hour."
