The Weather & Change

It is supposed to be two degrees cooler today. I hope so.

I have been having my showers in the evening instead of the morning, and it has freed up time to enjoy the cooler temperatures in the morning. We are really lucky because I think it is cooler in the mornings here in the mountains than it would be in my hometown. Both in North East Victoria.

Yesterday I went for a walk around the block with the little girls. It helped stretch my muscles in my legs, I haven't been out much as it was too hot to take the car for groceries where I usually shop.

I mentioned change in my Skywatch Friday post.

Apart from my eldest moving house this week, being the start of a school year here, we have more changes. The heat I think is unusual lasting longer than you would normally expect it to. My car is in the workshop until Tuesday. The air-con isn't working anyway. It won't be the same when I get it back as the motor will have to be run in. Now that they have finished working on the engine I can get the airconditioning regassed. Yes, after a big trip to the regional centre. I wasn't going to take it there myself, the workshop is sitting in a very hot place.

My mobile phone's battery doesn't work, though it is a new phone from when the CDMA network closed, last March? I should have got a new one while I had the chance, when hubby went to our hometown to go to the dentist. I have to get new batteries for my camera as well. (Done that.)

My daughter finishes classical ballet. It will be sad. She has studied classical ballet since age 5 with one year gap a year after we moved until they started ballet classes here. So six years I think she has learnt it for. Her peers took holiday classes at the regional centre, something I have always dreamed of for her, but it wasn't to be. She is taking neo classical and a modern or hip hop class this year instead. I think that will be interesting. I have the year's shoes to buy, one lot unfamiliar to me. We don't have a shop here, so may have to attend a shoe buying day in town. The shop comes to us, in other words.

She has new glasses and a new school to attend. I will be only picking up one child from school now. I will have to get out of the car tomorrow, it will be probably too hot to sit in it and wait even with the door open for air. I may have to walk until hubby gets some bike tyres. One of us will have to I think. I think I will ask her to wait under a tree.

At the moment, we cope with the heat but you can hear us saying things like "you are standing in my air", people moving up close blocks the air from the fans. I found meal planning a challenge, I am going towards tuna and bacon that don't need a lot of cooking. Wish it was like the old days where you have cold meat and salad. I can't think what cold meat I can use.

We have a birthday party this week, and getting ready for a school camp. I found a photo of her birthday two years ago and it brought a smile.

I have been drinking lots of cordial instead of tea. We keep old cordial bottles in the freezer, which now has to be defrosted every few days to keep it going. Today we decided to keep the frozen water in an eski as it thaws out too quickly.

My daughter was sitting in the river yesterday. She said the water was cold. Cold water in the Murray? I guess that is possible since it comes from the mountains. The kids are very excited today, then tomorrow when they are at school it will be very quiet.

Hi Linda,

Isn't the heat just ridiculous now.

It is 45C here again today, yesterday 44C. I have had enough. I don't have anything to blog about as we are just sitting around the house, going for a swim in the pool and then sitting around again.

Stay cool,
Tania

Tania you have hit the nail on the head. Now I have found something to watch on TV, but the couch feels very hot. I don't like seeing people on TV wearing warm hats, or anything red or hot looking lol.
