Skywatch Friday

These photos my daughter took in the past few weeks. They are of a town in NSW, close to where we live. They survived their own bushfire in 2003, I don't know many details, all I can remember of that time is weeks and weeks of smoke. At the time we lived in our hometown 2 1/4 hours away, and before the smoke was finished we moved 2 hours in the other direction and escaped some of it. On the weekends when we came home, our laundry from the line was very heavy with the smell.

Very beautiful!

And I've never been so aware that I'm *posting into the future* as I am right now where my posts are showing up in an entirely different year than the one I'm in currently.

What a lovely place. Like you, we, too, have brush fires every summer in California, where it doesn't rain from June through September. Re: smoky smell in the clothes--We had friends whose house partially burned in a forest fire, but their clothes were rescued. Several of us took bags of their smoky clothes and washed them. I washed them 3 times and they still smelled like smoke!

Happy New Year to you.
