1. Candy corn: Your thoughts?
I have had two lots of candy corn. The first I think it a bag of Halloween lollies/candy that my husband brought back from the States, pretty sure there was candy corn in there. A bit heavy for the plane, and he went OS two springs (read autumn there) so we got two bags I think. My daughter went in October to Malaysia, I think it is nice to have someone go overseas in early October.

The second candy corn was from a store that sells US Candy and groceries. I didn't like those so much. My favourite US candy was from Walgreen's.

I tried buying Halloween candy in Target here one year, nothing. But The Warehouse turned out to be a good idea another year.

2. Briefly, what was the first conversation you ever had with your spouse? (or best friend, if you're not married.) (Or someone significant, like your librarian.)
I don't know. I remember him sitting behind me in church. I heard his little boy call him Dad, and I remember someone asked me to his place for lunch after church possibly.

3. Could you ever become a vegetarian?
I vegetarian food, what I have tasted of it. Watching Good Chef, Bad Chef is an eye opener, all the things I haven't tried yet. Like a mixture of oils instead of margarine, anyone know where to get it? Janella recommends it. Also agave syrup and spelt flour instead of white flour, what a good idea.

My uncle used to eat macrobiotics many years ago, and I loved the taste of whatever he made. I can eat Brewer's Yeast. I love roasts, but having said that we hardly cook them. Any lots of recipes we try that have vegetables now have roast pumpkin in them. What I propose is that pumpkins go back to tasting like pumpkins not what Australians call squash. I think I should be a heirloom seed collector and vegetable grower.

4. Have you ever dressed up your pet in a costume?
No, it is slowly growing on me.

5. Name something about childhood that you miss (like Clark Bars, Teaberry Gum, Malibu Barbie, cracking fake eggs on people's heads with your fist and "It's the Great Pumpkin" airing only once a year).
Fake eggs, it has crossed my mind lately. It is fun. Riding a horse of course. Does that count? Christmas school concerts with a Christmas tree and Santa. But now my kids are older, maybe swimming in the river. I have the opportunity, so maybe the food, though I had a Golden Gaytime yesterday, and usually I don't bother. Now we have ebay and Austar (satellite) what else is there? Cracking fake eggs you can do anytime on your kids. I'm not the same person, on Facebook you notice people I knew pretty much still do the same things they used to. I used to want to see those heart lollies again, and I have, maybe they don't have as many messages on them? OK, toys in the cereal?

6. Have you ever won a trophy? If not, what do you deserve a trophy for?
I don't think I have a trophy. Maybe I'd like to be called a trophy wife, ha ha.

7. When do you think is the appropriate time to begin playing Christmas music each year?
Since we don't have Thanksgiving or Halloween usually, anytime we feel like it, perhaps when it is warmer. Think gardenias and callistemon.

8. What's your favorite board game?
I don't play board games anymore. I got interested in memories of Chinese checkers and things, my seven year old likes playing games. I bought her a card game Old Maid. My Nana had interesting sets, and I liked my friend's Mah Jong.

9. How do you feel about surprises (receiving, not giving)?
I would not like a surpise party. Is that like tempting fate?

10. Is it easy for you to say, "I'm sorry?"
I have no idea. People would say I like asking my family to say sorry lol.

11. What is your favorite candle scent?
Not sure I have one. I'd say it is not as popular in Australia, but I don't think that is right anymore since my daughter likes those things and she learnt it from others.

12. October is traditionally "open house" time in public schools. If you had a literal open house in your home (like a reception) what light snacks would you serve visitors and what would you show them (as in art projects, graded papers) that would uniquely represent you?
Something on savoys? Well we don't have too much school stuff says she who's husband's laptop bag is probably full of it.

Comments

Linda, such thoughtful answers.

I think you are one of the most interesting commenters (is that a word?)and I love coming here to see what you've added to the mix.

Toys in the cereal and "trophy wife" made me laugh.

I would love to "think gardenias" because that is my favorite scent. Somehow, candles can't seem to capture it quite right, though.

Toys in the cereal made me think of the "good" toys they used to put in CrackerJacks! Thanks for that memory!

What is Golden Gaytime?
INTERESTING!
Very fun to read....

Oh! You've reminded me of a childhood memory that I miss! My mother had an IVORY mah jong set -- I used to get it out and play with it - building with the little bricks. I LOVED that set! One of my sisters took it and pawned it... I MISS that set!

Loved reading your answers!

Golden Gaytime is an icecream on a stick with a crumbly outside and something like caramel covering the icecream as well.
