Julia Gillard's Acceptance Speech ~ The poor housewives
I finally got to watch two of the four videos of the new Prime Minister's speech today. Do you know, I was disappointed in one way. Lots of groups of people were mentioned, but possibly not the homemakers. Ouch.
I have been following her line of thinking a couple of times now. My conclusion this morning is the most respectable people in Australia according to this set of rules are the paperboys/girls.
Welcome. I am Linda, 48, from Victoria, Australia. A farmgirl who found herself in a small isolated town in a stunning location at the age of 40, an accidental treechange, after living 25 years in my beloved milltown. So now I have lived 22 years of my life in the High Country. My husband of 27 years and my daughters 15 and 10 & I try to renovate a second home, in a village. I am a stay at home Mum. Our eldest son, 23 is working in the city and second eldest son 21 and eldest daughter 18 studying there as well.

Yes I noticed this too Linda. I hope she isn't one of those who believe that the only labour worth recognising is paid labour.
I'm glad, I was worried I was speaking out of turn.
