Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Friday...

Outside my window... I have no idea. It is deathly quiet and subdued lighting. Turns out it is a perfect day, but very cold inside. I don't seem to feel it too much though, which is unusual

I am thinking... how quiet it is in the house for a Friday afternoon, I am the only one home and it is after 4

I am thankful for... the fact that I scraped together enough money for us to take our little girl to the show. She is entering the Showgirl Competition. I took her to the school dentist last Wednesday in the regional centre. It was in a new place. Then I got her hair trimmed with extra layers put in, she is 9. Then I went to Pumpkin Patch to get her one more winter outfit. She mentioned the Showgirl Competition where you get dressed up and wear a hat they recommended. So we got a skirt from the Southern Belle collection I think, a t-shirt from the new range with a bow on it. She got new shoes as it is that time of year. Ended up with black boots from Myer. Then she needed a vest, found one at Valleygirl, and a straw cowgirl hat from K-mart. That was why my back was a little used last week after the driving and walking. She wanted to look oldfashioned but not in simple dress, but more country

I am wearing... a top that is usually just hanging in my cupboard. Not sure if the print is too big, but I am definitely having to buy smaller jeans. I realised if they are too loose they are not supporting my tummy, and really everywhere else doesn't look big atm

I am remembering... suddenly in the middle of all this, that I had to dash down to the Agricultural Show office with only 15 or so minutes to spare as I wanted to enter my daughter's cushion. She made it during the holidays at my Mum's house. She saw some material at Spotlight I think and they used it to make a cushion back. The front is plain and my daughter designed a longstitch pattern. I have no idea what longstitch is, so I had three ladies and I trying to work out if that was what it was. I think my daughter should get some feedback for her lovely work. Turns out I had to dash down there, the actual pavilion and put it in a craft section

I am going... eventually after draining the oil and refilling it (read $200) I am going to help take my car to the regional centre so they can fix it for free. I wish it would happen sooner rather than later

I am reading... The Road to Blessing by Penelope Wilcock. Today I am no where near in the head space as when I read the start on Amazon

I am hoping... all goes well for the show tomorrow, the weather if it is like today will be perfect

On my mind... lifestyles of people, particularly single people, real or imagined

Noticing that... it is autumn but I haven't noticed that many leaves falling yet or turning

Pondering these words... words and scriptures from the book, though I can't take it in right now

From the kitchen... Potato & Egg Salad

Around the house... bags of apples in the kitchen, roadside cross ones, which are like custard apples and gravensteins, and green apples from someone's tree. I usually find green apples too expensive to stew

One of my favourite things... listening to Eva Cassidy. I found her on youtube I think, love Autumn Leaves and I Know You By Heart, you can listen to them on grooveshark

From my picture journal... my daughter has been planning out how to enter lots of categories in the local Agricultural Show in photography so she can win I guess. This was the last bit and they had a little makeup, dressup and picture taking session after school. This was taken in the backyard
